Four held for stealing from tourist vehicle on city outskirts

SHILLONG, June 23: A team from Madanrting police station on Monday arrested four persons for targeting a group of tourists from Mumbai and stealing Rs 50,000 in cash and an iPhone from their vehicle parked at Mawblei on Sunday evening.
The crime occurred around 8 pm on Sunday when Jay Nand Kishore Joshi and his family, along with another newlywed couple from Mumbai, parked their Innova near the Mahindra Showroom in Mawblei to have dinner at a restaurant there.
Upon their return, they found a window of their vehicle smashed and their luggage, containing the cash and the iPhone13, missing.
They immediately registered a complaint at Madanrting police station, following which police nabbed the four suspects and recovered the cash and the phone from their possession on Monday.
The arrested individuals were identified as Chaphrang Nangkiew Sutnga (24) of Mawblei, Wanjop Kharumnuid (23) of Laitkor Nonglum, Albertstar Kharhujon (22) of Umphyrnai, and Michael Nongrum (45) of Demthring Block A.
