Meghalaya Athletics holds first trial for 39th National Games

Shillong, June 29: The Meghalaya Athletics Association (MAA) successfully conducted the first selection trial on Saturday as part of the athlete selection process for the upcoming 39th National Games.
Held for male and female athletes from West and East Jaintia Hills districts, the trial saw participation from a total of 139 athletes, including 112 men and 27 women.
The event was overseen by 15 technical officials, in addition to support provided by senior athletes who voluntarily assisted in managing the proceedings.
The selection trial aimed to identify and shortlist promising talents who will represent Meghalaya at the prestigious national event.The next phase of the selection trial is scheduled to take place on July 5, 2025, at the SAI Centre, NEHU, Shillong.
This round will cover athletes from East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, and Ri Bhoi districts.
The Meghalaya Athletics Association has expressed gratitude to all athletes, officials, and volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and support, and looks forward to continuing the process of building a strong state contingent for the National Games.
