SHILLONG, June 30: A 27-year-old woman, Phyrnailin Kharsyntiew, tragically lost her life on Monday evening after her ‘former’ boyfriend, Roberto Marngar (25), allegedly slit her throat at the Pyndengumiong parking lot in Mairang in full public view.
According to police sources, the victim sustained deep penetrating injuries which cut major blood vessels in the neck.
She was rushed to the Mairang Civil Hospital but succumbed to excessive bleeding shortly after arriving at the emergency ward.
Reports indicate that the couple had been facing relationship issues for over a year, and Phyrnailin had expressed her desire to end the relationship.
However, Roberto allegedly threatened to defame her. Concerned over her safety, she confided in her father about the threats.
On the day of the tragic incident, her father accompanied her to meet Roberto at the parking lot. The father was walking slightly ahead when the accused attacked Phyrnailin from behind and slit her throat.
“I initially thought my daughter had fallen. But when I looked back, I saw that her former boyfriend had slit her throat,” the victim’s father, Sarding Mairang said.
Eyewitnesses informed that after slitting her neck, the accused even kicked the victim.
People present at the parking lot nabbed the accused and handed him over to the police.
The victim’s father has called on authorities to take the strictest possible action against the accused.
