TURA, July 1: In a first-of-its-kind surgery at Baghmara Civil Hospital, a 25-year-old woman underwent an emergency lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) on Tuesday due to foetal distress, resulting in the successful delivery of a baby girl weighing 2.6 kg.
Both the mother and the baby are in stable condition, sources confirmed.
This marks the first surgery of its kind at Baghmara Civil Hospital following the completion of the new operation theatre.
The LSCS was conducted by Dr Susan Sangma and Dr Presiana Shira, both trained in Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Care (CEmOC), with assistance from anaesthetist Dr Ryan Sangma.
The surgical team was supported by staff nurses Florence Sangma, Grikchi Sangma, Nomita Sangma and OT technicians Jimbirth Sangma, Heiporm Pyroot, Dawanka Suchiang and Chakchera Sangma.
