SHILLONG, July 1: The All Jaintia Muster Roll Workers and Labour Union central executive committee (CEC) on Tuesday urged the state government to release and credit the wages for June at the earliest, along with the pending arrears of the base rate effective from October 1, 2023, for daily minimum wage workers engaged in various departments across the state.
The union’s general secretary, H Dkhar, along with its adviser, Khroo L Pariat, urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to take immediate steps to release the wages for June and the pending arrears.
They said that if the dues are released, workers belonging to the Niamtre indigenous faith of  Seiñ Raij Jowai and Seiñ Raij Tuber of East Jaintia Hills district could afford to celebrate Behdieñkhlam as a blessing to all, like any other follower.
The two leaders further stated that wages for daily minimum wage workers should also be released at the earliest before the upcoming Durga Puja and Christmas celebrations in Meghalaya.
