SHILLONG, July 2: Shillong-based author, Salil Gewali, was recently honoured by a youth organization from Mumbai called Yuva Heet Karini Sangh with the prestigious “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Rashtra Prem Samman Award.”
The organisation, known for its dedication to youth empowerment and social welfare, has been actively promoting Salil Gewali’s book — Great Minds on India — ever since it was formally released by the then Governor, C Vidyasagar Rao, and Maharashtra’s Education Minister Vinod Tawde at Raj Bhavan in 2015.
The Marathi edition of the book was edited and featured a preface penned by the former Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Leena Mehendale.
The secretary of the organisation, Babu Suthar, remarked that Gewali’s book has made an invaluable contribution to the nation by inspiring young minds through the literary and philosophical heritage of ancient India — a legacy that has deeply influenced eminent scientists, thinkers, and writers around the world.
In 2024, the Arabic edition of the book was released in Qatar and Dubai, and in April this year, the Punjabi edition was launched by the Language department of the Government of Punjab.
So far, this research-based work by Gewali has been translated into 15 languages.
