SHILLONG, July 3: Members of the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations recently intercepted a courier truck (AS11 RC 7779) at Byrnihat illegally transporting cattle.
According to a delayed report, CoMSO members stopped the truck after hearing suspicious noises coming from inside. Suspecting the presence of people, they were surprised to discover a large number of cattle inside the vehicle.
Upon questioning, the truck driver claimed the cattle were being transported to a person named “Bah Pher” residing in Umsning.
However, he was unable to produce any transit permits or health certificates to verify the condition of the animals.
