NONGPOH, July 5: The Dorbar Shnong of Lumdaitkhla, Bhoirymbong, on Saturday distributed essential items to various localities within the village under the leadership of its headman ST Rympei and secretary R. Rymbai, along with other members of the village Dorbar.
The distributed items included shovels, garden hoes, tarpaulins and hot-and-cold teapots, among others, all funded through the village’s own contributions.
The initiative was made possible through prudent financial management, utilising leftover funds collected by the village after covering expenses for the improvement of the Ing Dorbar (village hall) and four ICDS centres across the localities. Whilst the infrastructure funding came through government schemes, part of the work was completed using community-generated resources.
The essential items were handed over to the elderly, women and youths of the four localities within Lumdaitkhla, namely Khlieh Shnong, Lum Mawria, Sohriman and Khapmara.
Speaking during the event, the headman expressed satisfaction that the village could extend such support to its residents, particularly in the four localities that needed these items most.
Crediting the achievement to the wisdom and unity of the present executive committee of the Dorbar Shnong, Rympei expressed hope that the village would continue to undertake more impactful initiatives for the collective benefit of the community.
Meanwhile, community members, including elders, women and youth representatives, extended their appreciation to the Dorbar Shnong and its leadership.
They noted that it was the first time the village had undertaken such a distribution of commonly used items, which play crucial roles during funerals and celebratory events.
