Foundation day
The Gorkha Association Shillong is celebrating the 139th Foundation Day of the association in Babu Mani Singh Gurung Auditorium, Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Shillong, at 11 am on July 20. The association will also organise a lottery raffle draw in its aid on Wednesday on the premises of Gorkha Durga Puja Mandir, Lukier Road, Shillong.
NABARD, Meghalaya Regional Office, Shillong, will conduct the 44th NABARD Foundation Day celebrations for Meghalaya in the Banquet Hall, State Convention Centre, on July 16 at 11 am. Agriculture Minister Ampareen Lyngdohhas consented to be the chief guest.
Unclaimed body
An unknown body of a female was found lying by the roadside at Rimrangpara village under Purakhasia post office in West Garo Hills. As per a police release in this regard, the unidentified body, swarthy in complexion, is small in built, with hair above shoulder, 4 foot 8 inches approximately in height, seemingly a non-tribal in looks. She was wearing black cotton palazzo pant and a grey sweater with long sleeves, along with one silver chain, ‘tabis’ (traditional locket) around her neck, the release added. The body has been moved to Tura Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Relatives or anyone have been urged to come forward to claim the body within three days.
