Tynsong’s PS hurt in road accident

SHILLONG, July 19: The Personal Secretary (PS) to Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Torich R Marak, sustained injuries in a road accident on Saturday morning after his vehicle collided head-on with a truck in the Thiepjaphlang area under Mawshynrut Police Station limits.
The incident occurred at around 8 am when a six-wheeler truck bearing registration number AS 01 AC–6971, heading towards Nongstoin, collided with an Alto 800 (ML05 Q–8480) driven by Marak. Accompanying him were his wife, Jrybina M Sangma (51), and their 17-year-old son, Darnel M Sangma. The family hails from Cherangre, Tura, in West Garo Hills.
All three were rushed to Nongstoin Civil Hospital in an ambulance. Marak sustained more serious injuries and was later referred to Woodland Hospital in Shillong for advanced treatment. His wife and son reportedly suffered minor injuries and are in stable condition.
The driver of the truck fled the scene following the collision. Police have seized both vehicles for investigation, and legal proceedings are under way.
