SHILLONG, July 27: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum is confident that the NPP-led MDA Government will fulfill its commitment to relocate residents from Them Iew Mawlong before the end of its current term.
Nongrum observed that the relocation is in the broader public interest and would benefit the current residents, who are living in substandard conditions.
He feared that the area resembles a slum and could become a serious health hazard in case of any calamity.
Reaffirming his trust in the current administration, Nongrum urged the government to remove the barricades blocking the road in the area to ease traffic congestion and improve public movement.
