LONDON, July 28: President Donald Trump claimed he prevented a war between India and Pakistan by threatening to halt trade talks. Speaking in Scotland alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said that without his intervention, six major global conflicts might have erupted, including one between the nuclear-armed neighbors. He recounted telling both countries he wouldn’t proceed with trade deals if they went to war, emphasizing the global danger of nuclear fallout.
Trump credited his relationships with both nations’ leaders and described avoiding such conflicts as “a great honour.” However, India has repeatedly denied any US role in de-escalating tensions. Following a Pakistan-backed terror attack in Pahalgam in April, India launched Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes in May. New Delhi maintains the operation concluded through direct military talks between India and Pakistan, without any foreign mediation or involvement from the United States. (AP)
