Shillong, July 30: The Lone Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh has joined the ruling NPP in Meghalaya today. NPP leader Wailadmiki Shylla confirmed the development.

With this development, the Congress party has ceased to exist in Meghalaya Assembly with not even a single MLA left in its kitty.

Meanwhile, Mathew Antony, AICC Joint Secretary, in charge of Meghalaya has told The Shillong Times that the resignation of Ronnie V Lyngdoh has not come as a surprise (the party has not received any official resignation as we speak) as the shopping spree of the ruling NPP from the money raised through corruption and looting of the people of Meghalaya continues.

“We all know the fate of Judas who became a chosen disciple amongst the 12, only to betray the one who raised them. Same as with our 3 +1 MLAs who committed their loyalty to win as MLAs with the hand symbol of the Congress party and then to betray us for the silver coins offered to them,” he said.

“Congress was there before these MLAs and we will be there stronger with new leaders inducted into the party in the coming days.

“Our commitment is to get rid of this corrupt government and save the people of Meghalaya from such loot that makes them poorer and poorer every day.

“When your Ministers and MLAs are buying new cars, houses and luxury travels , we request the people of Meghalaya to ask them , what is the source of their sudden income. If they don’t reply or show sudden increase of their business from Government, understand it is the money of the people of Meghalaya which is being looted for buying MLAs , buying New Houses , constructing new buildings, sending their children for expensive foreign education.

“Congress promises to continue their fight for the people of Meghalaya. It is also to the fact that the MLAs poor individual performance has made him realise the fact that he will not win the next assembly elections, as well as he may be denied a ticket by the party in the next assembly elections is also a reason for this silver coin betrayal.”
