Tura, July 31: The Garo Hills Catholic Union (GHCU) has expressed outrage as well as strong condemnation against the arrest of two Catholic nuns by authorities in Chatisgarh recently, asserting that they were falsely accused and charges against them are baseless.

“These devoted nuns have long been known for their unwavering commitment to the service of humanity. Their arrest is not only an injustice but also an attack on the very spirit of compassion, faith and selfless service they embody,” the union said, in a release.

Stating that the union stands in full solidarity with the arrested sisters, the union urged civil societies, human rights organizations and people of goodwill across India to speak out against the growing harassment and persecution of religious minorities.
