Tura, July 31: In a proud and emotional gathering, the Tura Motor Sports Club (TMSC) honoured Aneesh M Sangma, champion of the Gypsy category at the prestigious Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) – Coimbatore 2025, during a felicitation ceremony held at Cariz, Bonepa, Tura.
The event, held on Wednesday, was a celebration of not just a sporting triumph but also a moment of cultural pride. Members of TMSC came together in full attendance to pay tribute to Aneesh’s remarkable national-level achievement, which has brought recognition to both the club and the Garo Hills region.
In keeping with Garo traditional customs, Aneesh was presented with a kotip and a pandra, symbolic of respect, honour, and admiration. The honours were conferred by Shri Grahambell Sangma, President of TMSC, who lauded Aneesh’s dedication and determination.
“This victory is more than just a personal achievement for Aneesh,” said the TMSC President. “It marks a milestone for motorsports in our region. The kotip and pandra symbolise our deep appreciation and the collective pride of the Garo community.”
Adding significance to the occasion was the surprise presence of Shri Sanjay Sangma, Hon’ble MLA of Mahendraganj and chief mentor of TMSC. His attendance uplifted the spirits of everyone present and underscored his unwavering support for motorsports in Meghalaya.“It’s inspiring to see one of our own rise to such heights,” said the MLA. “Aneesh’s journey is a story of grit, passion and the strength that comes from community support. He is a role model for aspiring racers across the state.”
Aneesh’s national-level victory is being hailed as a turning point for the motorsports scene in Meghalaya, particularly in the Garo Hills. His success in the INRC Gypsy category has not only put Tura on the motorsport map but has also rekindled interest in rally racing among the youth of the region.
TMSC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting motorsports, stating that it would continue to nurture and support emerging talents from the region through training, mentorship and participation in national competitions.
