Mohit Suri, a renowned director known for his works like Aashiqui 2″and Emraan Hashmi hits, is credited with bringing romance back to the big screen with his latest drama Saiyaara. The movie stars Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda and has earned Rs 300 crore since its release on July 18. Suri admits that he hasn’t seen this level of success before in his career.
The film revolves around an upcoming musician with anger issues and a lyricist trying to get over her heartbreak. The core of the love story is the music the two create. Suri initially planned to develop the movie as a follow-up to his 2013 hit Aashiqui 2 but ended up with YRF. Anurag Basu is directing Aashiqui 3 with Kartik Aaryan in the lead role.
Suri believes that the media has been prejudicing newcomers and has not been interested in covering them. He believes that music is the heartbeat of Saiyaara, with songs like Saiyaara, Dhun, Humsafar and Tum Ho To getting people humming along.
Suri quotes Ramgopal Varma to describe his feelings for Saiyaara, saying that sometimes the film makes us feel part of it. He didn’t want the film to be called a cliche but to hold their hands and make them feel loved. (PTI)
