Minor girl assaulted in SWGH, accused held

AMPATI, Aug 4: A 16-year-old girl from South West Garo Hills sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by a man on Sunday.
Police came to know of the incident after an FIR was filed in the evening.
As per reports, the girl was so badly assaulted that she had to be rushed to the nearby Garobadha PHC and later to the Holy Cross Hospital. She was immediately admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital, though at the time of reporting, she is currently out of danger.
“We have arrested the accused and he will be produced in court tomorrow. We are awaiting her medical reports to see if this is a case of sexual assault. We are investigating the reason for the assault on the young girl,” said South West Garo Hills SP Vikash Verma.
