TURA, Aug 5: The Chokpot Area Vigilance Committee (CAVC) on Tuesday alleged the continued absence of a doctor at the Chokpot CHC and raised concern over the development, as the same has been affecting the lives and well being of the people in the area.
“It is with great disappointment and frustration that we report the continued absence of doctors at the Chokpot Community Health Centre (CHC). What is most alarming is that this issue persists even during emergency situations when patients require immediate medical attention. We have personally witnessed on multiple occasions that patients in need are left unattended due to the non-availability of doctors at the CHC. This is not an isolated incident but a repeated failure of the health system to ensure timely and adequate medical services in our area,” the committee claimed, in a release.
According to the committee, despite several memorandums, petitions, and verbal appeals made by them and local organizations to the concerned authorities, there has been no visible improvement in the situation. The government has remained silent and unresponsive to the continuous demands of the people regarding the proper deployment of doctors and medical staff at Chokpot CHC, it said, adding the ongoing neglect has left the community, who rely solely on the public healthcare system, helpless, especially the poor and vulnerable.
“The absence of medical professionals at the health centre, particularly during emergencies, is not just an administrative failure — it is a violation of the people’s right to health and dignity,” the committee asserted.
