SHILLONG, Aug 6: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has urged the state government to immediately release its rightful share of grants.
KHADC CEM Shemborlang Rynjah and Finance department Executive Member Seiborlang Warbah on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister in charge of District Council Affairs, Prestone Tynsong, highlighting the Council’s financial needs.
Speaking after his meeting with Tynsong, the CEM said the KHADC is yet to receive its share of funds from the government. He added that they discussed the Council’s entitlement to funds, especially in light of other autonomous district councils having already received theirs.
The Council also sought financial support to conduct research and studies on the socio-cultural conditions of the indigenous community.
The CEM said the DCA Minister did not provide a specific reason for the delay but directed officials of his department to investigate the reasons.
