Permission must for fresh work in 4-lane corridor areas: EKH DC

SHILLONG, Aug 6: In view of the initiation of the process of land acquisition for the proposed four-lane Greenfield Alignment (high-speed corridor), which will traverse parts of the East Khasi Hills, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the public to refrain from undertaking any new construction or developmental activity within the earmarked areas of the proposed alignment without prior approval from the DC’s office.
The corridor is expected to pass through seven villages in East Khasi Hills identified for land acquisition, namely Mawsiatkhnam, Lumkseh, Lumdiensai, Nonghali, Mawpdang (Mawkhanu), Diengpasoh (Jaroit) and Mawryngkneng (Mawiong Sung).
The order also made it clear that no compensation will be provided for any unauthorised structures, temporary or permanent, built within the proposed right of way (ROW) after the issuance of this public notice. This rule applies to both private residences and commercial establishments.
