SHILLONG, Aug 6: A state-level workshop on Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) held on Wednesday aimed to create awareness and facilitate the onboarding of state government departments and public sector undertakings (PSUs) onto the TReDS platform.
Organised by the Commerce and Industries department at the Conference Hall within the Directorate campus, Lower Nongrim Hills, Shillong, the workshop was conducted as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance scheme, sponsored by Ministry of MSME and Co-sponsored by World Bank.
It may be noted that Meghalaya is the first state from the Northeast to sign an MoU with Invoicemart (a joint venture of Axis Bank and mjunction) for implementation of TReDS initiative.
The event witnessed active participation from General Managers of District Commerce and Industries Centres (DCICs), representatives from State and Central PSUs, officials from various government departments, banking institutions, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The training and onboarding session was conducted by Invoicemart, one of the RBI-licensed TReDS platforms.
Manager, RBI Shillong, Rakshit Bhadana, offered insights into the regulatory vision and policy push behind TReDS, reinforcing the central bank’s commitment to digital financial infrastructure. Meanwhile, National Head of Invoicemart, Nikita Bose, delivered the keynote from the platform’s perspective, detailing the operational framework, benefits for stakeholders, and success stories from across the country.
The inaugural address was delivered by Director of Commerce and Industries, Friday Sutnga, who officially opened the workshop and urged all departmental and PSU participants to integrate TReDS within their procurement and payment systems.
A detailed presentation and hands-on onboarding session were conducted by Manager – East and Northeast, Invoicemart, Rajashree Kalita, which was followed by an engaging Q&A session.
