Youth’s body found on bank of Umngi river

MAWKYRWAT, Aug 6: The body of a youth, identified as Kyrshanbok Marngar (21) of Mawten village in South West Khasi Hills District, was found on the bank of the Umngi River in an area known as Pongtung, under the jurisdiction of Mawsynram Police Station, East Khasi Hills.
Police sources said that around 9 am on Wednesday, a missing person report was filed by one Droswell Lyngkhoi of Mawten village, reporting that his son, Kyrshanbok Marngar, had been missing from Domthrin, Mawten, since August 2.
Later, information was received about an unidentified body found at the Umngi River in Pongtung. Upon inspection, the family members confirmed the identity of the deceased as Kyrshanbok Marngar, police said.
The Officer-in-Charge of Mawsynram Police Station is currently handling the necessary formalities, and the body will be handed over to the family after completion of all procedures.
Police added that there is no suspicion of foul play at this time. Family members informed officers that Marngar had an argument with his wife before allegedly taking his own life. However, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
