SHILLONG, Aug 7: The National People’s Party Women’s Front (NPWF) has urged Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to allocate space at Ka Phan Nonglait Park for the installation of a bust of Ka Phan Nonglait.
In a letter submitted to the chief minister, the NPWF Meghalaya State Unit stated, “We would like to install a bust of Ka Phan Nonglait, one of the freedom fighters of our state, Meghalaya, as a tribute to her contributions and as a reminder of the immense role women have played in the development of the state in particular and modern India in general.”
The organisation further requested that the bust be installed within Ka Phan Nonglait Park, describing it as the most fitting location and a befitting tribute to her enduring legacy.
The letter was handed over by NPWF Meghalaya State Unit president Grace Mary Kharpuri, along with other members of the organisation, in the presence of NPP State Working President Hamletson Dohling and party spokesperson HM Shangpliang.
