DHAKA, Aug 7: Bangladesh’s Awami League has criticized the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus for causing widespread financial distress, job losses, hunger, and the collapse of businesses and banking institutions.
The party claims that over 10 million jobs have been lost in the past year, food insecurity has increased, small businesses have shut down, and the banking sector is struggling with massive debt. The Awami League also highlighted that exports and imports have significantly decreased, production has slowed, and business profitability has deteriorated.
The crisis is attributed to the lack of effective government policies, incompetence, and widespread corruption. The party claims that the global perception of Bangladesh has been damaged, leading to foreign investors hesitant to invest and the country’s global reputation suffering.
The Awami League argues that genuine development requires effective policies, prompt decision-making, and sincere governance. To reverse the downward trend, the party calls for correct economic policies, effective measures, and strong leadership. Addressing the situation requires domestic policy reform, international cooperation, and public participation. (IANS)
