SHILLONG, Aug 8: The East Khasi Hills district administration has rejected a request from the Harijan Panchayat Committee to exempt Hairjan Colony from the paid parking policy.
In a letter to the Harijan Panchayat Committee, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner stated that, as per a recent meeting, it was decided that the movement of vehicles plying from Mawlonghat to Bimola Junction would be allowed until 8:00 PM.
As per the approved decision, only two-wheelers are permitted to park in a small stretch opposite the Gurudwara. All other vehicles are prohibited from parking along the road and must instead use the nearby paid parking lot, with fees to be collected by the Shillong Municipal Board.
The letter further noted that this system is applicable in other localities as well.
