SHILLONG, Aug 8: Chief Secretary Donald P. Wahlang on Friday said he will sum up the recommendations of the Expert Committee on Reservation Policy and place the same before the Cabinet by the end of this month.
The Expert Committee on Reservation Policy submitted its report to the Meghalaya government in June this year, following which the state government instructed the Chief Secretary to examine the report and submit his recommendations.
“I have to sum up the recommendations of the committee and the work is in progress,” Wahlang told reporters while adding that he will adhere to the deadline of August 31 to submit his observations to the cabinet.
The report is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Meghalaya State Reservation Policy and its implications for the future.
The Expert Committee headed by Justice (retired) Mool Chand Garg was constituted by the state government on September 12, 2023, to review the existing reservation policy in the state following demands from several quarters. Other members of the committee included Justice (retired) Dr. Satish Chandra, Prof. D.V. Kumar, Prof. Chander Shekhar, and Prof. Subhadip Mukherjee.
