SHILLONG, Aug 9: Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road, Shillong, on Saturday hosted the grand prize distribution ceremony of the 51st Annual Cultural Competition, bringing to a close over a month-long celebration of youthful talent, creativity, and cultural heritage.
This year’s competition saw an impressive 2,811 students from 82 schools across Shillong and neighbouring areas compete in a wide range of events spanning from nursery to college level. At the concluding ceremony, 285 winners were honoured with trophies, certificates, and accolades. Army Public School, Shillong, was adjudged the Overall Champion, while Pine Mount School bagged the Overall Runners-up title.
Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, RM Kurbah, said, “It is culture that withstands the shock of time,” highlighting the role of such competitions in nurturing the heart and soul and fostering cultural appreciation across India.
Guest of honour Amit Kumar Gupta from India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Shillong, commended the Mission for organising the competition on such a large scale, providing a valuable platform for young people to express and hone their talents.
