SHILLONG, Aug 11: The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has asked the state government to expedite the process of shifting PHE pipelines along the Rilbong-Baniun road which is package I of the Shillong-Dawki Road project to ensure that the road is completed by December this year.
NHIDCL officials held a meeting with state government officials on Monday to discuss the matter of shifting PHE pipelines besides issues related to land acquisition for the Shillong Western Bypass project.
There are three locations where the PHE pipelines have to be shifted including a location near the football ground and another place near HQ 101 Area, the NHIDCL said.
“Since we have targeted to complete the package I by December, it is necessary to shift the PHE pipelines,” an NHIDCL official said while adding that another meeting has been scheduled between NHIDCL and PHE to finalise the shifting of the pipelines.
Regarding the problems of land acquisition for the Shillong Western Bypass project, the NHIDCL official said, “There are some locations where land acquisition is an issue and since we will begin the working season after the monsoon, we have sought the intervention of the government to resolve the issues at the earliest.”
