MANILA, Aug 14: The US is considering the deployment of more missile launchers to the Philippines to strengthen deterrence against aggression in the disputed South China Sea and other Asian security hotspots.
The US military delivered a mid-range missile system called Typhon to the northern Philippines in April last year and an anti-ship missile launcher to the northernmost Philippine province of Batanes in April this year.
Beijing strongly protested the installation of the US missile systems, warning they would threaten regional stability.
The US ambassador to the Philippines, Jose Manuel Romualdez, encouraged US companies to invest in various industries in the Philippines. (AP)
