SHILLONG, Aug 16: BJP leader and South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Saturday inaugurated new infrastructure projects, including a road reaching the last village of his constituency at the base of Lum Shyllong.
As part of the programme, Shullai inaugurated two newly constructed concrete roads—one at Madan Laban built at a cost of Rs 83 lakh and another at Riat Laban Kynjatphutbol costing Rs 57 lakh.
He also opened a public washing and bathing facility at Riat Laban Kynjatphutbol, created to serve the needs of local residents.
PWD Executive Engineer N. Lyngdoh, Additional Deputy Commissioner D. Kharmalki, Junior Engineers, departmental officials, and traditional leaders of Madan Laban and Riat Laban Kynjatphutbol were present at the inauguration.
According to the MLA, the work on the second phase of the Riat Laban road would begin in September. He also announced that plans are underway for a cultural centre in the locality, which will house parking facilities, a community hall and offices for the Dorbar Shnong, youth organisations and women’s groups.
The newly opened Madan Laban road has been particularly welcomed, as it replaced a narrow pedestrian path and now connects an area long deprived of proper access.
