SHILLONG, Aug 27: Just days after the Congress held Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and the entire NPP-led MDA Government responsible for every single drug-related death in the state, Cabinet Minister and BJP leader AL Hek has asserted that the government cannot be blamed on such matters.
“How can they blame the government? If the children are taking drugs, can the parents be blamed? It is the personal choice of the youth as they know their responsibility well,” Hek told reporters on Thursday.
Asked if the government is doing enough to deal with drugs menace in the state, Hek said that the government has been trying its best to address the challenge of drugs menace and even the society at large has joined the fight against drug abuse in the state.
Hek also refused to hold the BJP responsible for the surge in drugs trafficking in the Northeastern states.
