M’laya govt notifies online building permission system

SHILLONG, Aug 28: The Urban Affairs department has notified that the Online Building Permission System (OBPS) was formally launched in August.
According to the notification issued by Commissioner and Secretary of Urban Affairs, Vijay Kumar D, the system requires Architects, Engineers, Town Planners, and Consulting Firms to register themselves in order to access the portal for submission and processing of building plan applications.
The notification further stated that registration fees applicable to Engineers, Town Planners, and Consulting Firms will remain unchanged, as prescribed in Notice No. MUDA.BP/188/2007-08 dated April 2018.
For Architects registered with the Council of Architecture (CoA), there will be no registration fee, except for a processing fee of Rs 100.
Additionally, third-party agencies, institutes, or government departments engaged in vetting or proof-checking structural designs and project drawings are only required to onboard themselves into the system, with no registration or processing fee applicable.
