Man arrested for killing wife, mother-in-law
NEW DELHI, Aug 30: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and mother-in-law in Delhi’s Rohini following a dispute over the gifts exchanged between both sides of the family during his son’s birthday. Upon reaching the scene, the police found the bodies of Kusum Sinha (63) and her daughter Priya Sehgal (34) lying in a room.The caller, Megh Sinha (30), Kusum’s son, informed that on August 28, his mother had come to Priya’s house to celebrate the birthday of her son, Chirag.During the function, a dispute allegedly rose between Priya and her husband, Yogesh, regarding the gifts exchanged between both sides of the family. Kusum stayed at Priya’s to settle the matter.When the caller tried to contact his mother over the phone, his calls went unanswered. He then came to Priya’s house and found the flat locked from outside with blood stains visible near the door.He immediately informed other family members and broke open the lock, whereupon he found his mother and sister lying in a pool of blood inside the room. Asaram Bapu surrenders after HC refuses to extend interim bail
JODHPUR, Aug 30: With the Rajasthan High Court refusing to extend his interim bail, self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who has been serving life sentence for raping a minor, surrendered at the Jodhpur Central Jail on Saturday.Asaram, 84, had been given bail on January 7 this year for the first time in 12 years of imprisonment in view of medical reasons.A high court bench had dismissed Asaram’s interim bail plea during the hearing on August 27. Referring to the medical board report from the doctors of Government Hospital, Ahmedabad, the court stated that Asaram’s health condition is stable and he does not require hospitalisation or continuous medical care.During the hearing on August 27, Asaram’s lawyer argued that Asaram had been taken to AIIMS Jodhpur on August 21, where doctors reported a deterioration in his health condition.However,the High Court did not accept this argument and, relying on the medical board’s report from Ahmedabad, dismissed the bail plea. Three of family crushed to death as truck overturns on house
JHABUA, (MP) Aug 30: Three members of a family were killed after a sand-laden truck overturned on their house in the wee hours of Saturday in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district, police said.The accident near Choran Mata ghat, close to Fatipura village, about 30 km from the district headquarters, said a senior police official.He said the driver lost control of the vehicle on a slope, causing it to overturn onto a house.The victims, Desingh Meda (35), his wife Ramila (27), and their daughter Aarohi (7), were crushed to death in their sleep, the police official said.The truck was transporting sand adding that a case has been registered.Angry villagers staged a protest after the accident, following which additional police force was rushed to the spot along with senior adminsitrative officials, who tried to pacify them.
