Lady Gaga to take the stage at upcoming VMAs 2025

Singer-actress Lady Gaga has been added to the slate of performers for the upcoming edition of the MTV VMAs. The award ceremony is set to be held on September 7 at 8 p.m. EST. Lady Gaga received the most nominations for this year’s ceremony, racking up a dozen nods for ‘Die With a Smile’, ‘Abracadabra’ and her latest album ‘Mayhem’, reports ‘Variety’. Bruno Mars trailed behind her with 11 nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with 10, Rose with eight, and Ariana Grande and the Weekend with seven. The ceremony will be aired =on CBS and Paramount+. As per ‘Variety’, additional performers include Post Malone, Sombr, Doja Cat, Conan Gray, Alex Warren, DJ Snake, Jelly Roll, J Balvin and Tate McRae. Mariah Carey is set to perform and receive the Video Vanguard Award, while Busta Rhymes will also grace the stage to accept the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award. Ricky Martin will make VMA history by becoming the first-ever artist to receive the Latin Icon award. The latest addition to Gaga’s schedule comes after the premiere of the Tim Burton-helmed ‘Wednesday’ earlier this week, where she appeared and announced that her new song ‘The Dead Dance’ will be released on September 3. Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein receives 13-minute ovation

Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro’s directorial “Frankenstein”, which had its premiere at the the main competition of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, received a standing ovation for 13 minutes. The film was screened at the ongoing festival on Saturday. It also recorded the longest standing ovation at the festival. During the ovation, Del Toro waved to the crowd and shared multiple hugs with the leads. Elordi and Issac also shed some tears while hugging each other, according to the entertainment news outlet Variety. “Frankenstein” is an adaptation of the 1818 classic by Mary Shelley. In the film, Oscar Issac plays the unorthodox scientist while Jacob Elordi gives life to the scientist’s deadly creation. The gothic science fiction is competing for the Golden Lion. Del Toro had also previously won this award in 2017 for his film “The Shape of Water”. The film’s premiere will be followed by a limited theatrical release on October 17 and a global release by Netflix on November 7. (PTI)

Pavitra Rishta star Priya Marathe passes away after battle with cancer

Actress Priya Marathe, who is known for her work in the superhit television show ‘Pavitra Rishta’, passed away at the age of 38 on Sunday. As per media reports, the actress breathed her last in Mumbai on August 31, 2025 at her residence in Mira Road area of Mumbai. She had been suffering from cancer for the past year. Despite receiving treatment, she could not recover from the illness, the reports stated. She started off as a stand-up comedian and ventured into television. She was born on April 23, 1987 in Mumbai. She did her schooling and college from Mumbai and soon found her calling in the world of acting. She made her TV debut with the Marathi serial ‘Ya Sukhanoya’ and then ‘Char Divas Sasuche’. She essayed the role of Varsha in ‘Pavitra Rishta’. The show also starred the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She also appeared briefly in ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ as Jyoti Malhotra. She also worked in a Marathi serial ‘Tu Tithe Me’ in a negative role of Priya Mohite. In February 2017, she joined the cast of Star Plus’s show ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’. Her untimely death has saddened many co-stars, friends, and fans. Many remember her as a warm, talented, and kind-hearted person. Priya’s passing is a big loss to the Marathi and Hindi entertainment world. Her contribution to television will always be remembered. (IANS)
