TURA, Sep 1: The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) on Monday announced its full support for the ongoing movement of employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), who are demanding their pending dues for 44 months.
It felt that the crisis in the GHADC is not just about delayed wages but about the future of grassroots governance in Garo Hills and that without deep financial reforms and accountability mechanisms, the Council risks becoming permanently dysfunctional, undermining the spirit of the Sixth Schedule and self-governance. “ACHIK will actively participate in collective movements until justice is delivered and systemic reforms are put in place,” it said in a release.
