Ram Gopal Varma and Manoj Bajpayee have reunited for the upcoming horror comedy Police Station Mein Bhoot, following the nearly three decades-long film Satya.
The film, which stars J. D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, and Manoj Bajpayee, is the first of Varma’s Gangster trilogy about organized crime in India.
The film follows Satya, an immigrant who becomes drawn into the Mumbai underworld after meeting criminals.
The film was initially planned as an action film but was shifted to focusing on felonies after meeting some criminals.
Satya, released in 1998, was a cult film and one of the greatest films ever in Indian cinema, credited with laying the foundation for gangster films in Bollywood.
It inspired several sequels, including Satya 2, and is set to release in 2020.
The film’s first schedule is already complete, and the film promises to push boundaries in how we perceive horror in the guise of authority. (PTI)
