WJDSA Football tournaments kick off

Jowai, Sep 2: The West Jaiñtia District Sports Association (WJDSA) kicked off its 2nd and 3rd Division Football Tournaments 2025 on Tuesday with an action-packed opening day at Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Dongmihsngi, Jowai.
The day began with a hard-fought encounter in the 3rd Division as Powerful Ryngkhlem put Lumsliarsliar Mupliang ahead in the 25th minute. However, Lumchyrmang Mihmyntdu fought back with Wompher Chyrmang netting the equaliser in the 51st minute, ending the match 1-1.
In the second fixture, Saindur Mihmyntdu edged past Lion SC with a solitary strike from Wanlambha Pongrup in the 33rd minute, sealing a 1-0 win.The third game saw Youth Welfare Iooksi SC overpower Tpep-Pale with a brace from Sammaia Sumer (6’, 56’). Despite Nangtei Sumer’s own goal in stoppage time handing Tpep-Pale a consolation, the match ended 2-1 in favour of Iooksi.Meanwhile, in the 2nd Division, Luti Tuber Social Welfare produced the day’s most dominant performance with a thumping 5-0 victory. Kynsai War scored twice (46’, 75’), while Medaya Dhar (55’), Iohbhah War (77’) and Wyrchar Dhar (81’) added to the tally in a one-sided contest.The WJDSA tournaments will continue through the month, promising more excitement as local clubs battle for top honours in both divisions.
