SHILLONG, Sep 6: As the autumn session is set to begin on Monday, Cabinet Minister and Treasury member Ampareen Lyngdoh has cautioned the Opposition not to underestimate the government.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Lyngdoh said the government will respond to every issue raised by the Opposition, adding that they are “action-oriented people.”
“One can play to the gallery in the House, but one must also understand that there is equal responsibility and a role to play in governance,” she remarked, while stressing that the short autumn session should be productive rather than focused on attacking the government.
She maintained that the government has never fallen short of its responsibilities. “Even during the hostile atmosphere of elections, we never shut our doors to consultation, discussion, and collaboration with the Opposition,” she said.
Lyngdoh further warned that if the Opposition creates a scenario that hampers productivity, the ruling side will also resort to the necessary course of redressal.
