Heroin worth Rs 1 cr found in woman’s house

SHILLONG, Sep 6: A late-night operation by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meghalaya Police in Nongrah Nongpdeng on Friday led to the seizure of heroin worth nearly Rs 1 crore.
Police teams raided a rented house occupied by 41-year-old Nengneilhing Khongsai from Manipur and recovered 18 soap cases packed with suspected heroin. The contraband weighed 218.94 grams in total, officials confirmed.
Khongsai has been taken into custody, and authorities said that a case under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act is being initiated.
