Assamese students’ association celebrates Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary

SHILLONG, Sep 9: The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association (SSASA) observed the 100th birth anniversary of legendary cultural icon Dr Bhupen Hazarika with two programmes held on Sunday and Monday.
On the first day, a solemn and heartfelt event was organised at Assam Club,Laban Shillong by the Shillong Assamese Ladies Welfare, where members of Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Students’ Association gathered to pay tribute and celebrate his legacy through speeches, music, and cultural presentations.
Continuing the celebrations, SSASA organised a programme the next day at Asom Kristi Kendra, MRBS Hall, Shillong, where students and members of the community participated in cultural activities, musical performances, and reflections on Dr Hazarika’s enduring impact on Assamese identity and artistic expression.
The association, in a statement issued here, has extended its gratitude to all participants, collaborating organisations, and well-wishers who made these events successful and meaningful.
