Retaining wall collapses, heavy vehicles banned along EKH road

SHILLONG, Sep 12: Heavy motor vehicles have been barred from using the Umden-Umrynjah road in East Khasi Hills after a retaining wall at the 1st kilometre mark (Ch 00.710 Km) gave way due to incessant rainfall.
The restriction, effective from September 12, will remain in force until repair work is completed. Officials have urged all commuters to strictly comply with the order in the interest of safety.
The notification was issued by the office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Umsning Division, Ri-Bhoi.
