Badaiahunlang Mawkhiew has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics by North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, for her thesis titled ‘Unorganised Manufacturing Sector of India: A Focus on the North Eastern States’, which she completed under the supervision of Dr. Darishisha W Thangkhiew. She is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
