SHILLONG, Sep 17: Newly-inducted Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai has asked pressure groups and concerned stakeholders to look at the development happening in Garo Hills and other Northeastern states and allow goods trains till Byrnihat.
Referring to the recent inauguration of the railway line in Mizoram, Shullai expressed optimism that the state government would try to convince and enlighten the pressure groups to look at what is happening in Garo Hills and other Northeastern states.
“Here too, the NGOs and other stakeholders should accept railways and goods trains till Byrnihat as it would generate employment besides bringing other benefits,” Shullai told reporters.
As far as ILP is concern, he said that this is a central subject and they have discussed the matter on several occasions.
Making it clear that implementation of ILP is not in the state government’s hand, he hoped that Meghalaya would be given ILP protection one day.
He also appealed to the people of the state to give BJP one chance with at least 31 MLAs and witness how the aspirations of the people are fulfilled.
