Shillong, Sep 17: A disturbing pattern of attempted kidnapping of young children in Meghalaya has been reported following a false narrative of the 13-year-old boy from Nongrah Nonglumbrei about masked men in a Black Scorpio.
Many such attempted kidnapping bids have been reported in Law Mawreng, Lummawbah, Pyndensohwa, and Umphrynai.
East Khasi Hills SP, Vivek Syiem, stated that the pattern is coming up suddenly after the case of the four-year-old child, Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai.
The pattern is particularly disturbing when the children are going to school or attending tuitions.
The SP said that the veracity of these claims needs to be verified. Most cases have been reported, and if there is anything concrete, a case will be registered, the SP added.
