Zubeen will be remembered for his rich contributions to music: PM Modi

Guwahati, Sept 19: Even as condolence messages pouring in from across the country over the untimely death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed shock at the death of the singer.
Taking to ‘X’ the Prime Minister said, “Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Meanwhile, People accross Assam have spontaneously come out of their homes to gather at various public places to mourn the death death of singer Zubeen Garg. The death of the icon has come a few days after the state began year-long birth centenary celebrations of another cultural legend Late Dr Bhupen Hazarika on September 8 last.

Adviser of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Samujjal Bhattacharjya said, “Zubeen was the flag bearer of the state culture and music among the younger generation. His name is taken after over iconic figures of the state Mahapurush Sankardev, Jyotiparad Agarwala, Bishu Prasad Rabha, Natasurjya Phani Sharma and Bhupen Hazarika.”
