SHILLONG, Sep 25: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) will soon have a new critical care block dedicated to the treatment of patients with contagious diseases.
Director Dr. Nalin Mehta said the block, being built under the PM-DevINE scheme with prefabricated steel structures at a cost of ₹120 crore, is nearing completion and is expected to be ready by December.
The facility will house 150 beds, including 50 ICU beds, 25 high-dependency units (HDUs), four operation theatres, isolation wards, and radiology units. Dr. Mehta noted that the project is progressing well and will provide much-needed support in tackling infectious diseases in the region.
