Hindi Fortnight concludes in city

SHILLONG, Sep 27: The closing ceremony of Hindi Fortnight was organised jointly by the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Meghalaya, Shillong, the Office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Meghalaya, Shillong, and the Regional Capacity Building & Knowledge Institute, Shillong, at the Civil Audit Sports and Cultural Club on Friday.
In her welcome address, Senior Deputy Accountant General Dhanlaxmi Chourasia highlighted the special place of Hindi as Rajbhasha in the Indian Constitution and underlined the importance of promoting the language.
She stressed that the objective of the fortnight was to help non-Hindi speaking personnel become proficient in Hindi through various competitions.
Cash awards and incentives were presented to winners of Hindi-related contests, including Antakshari, translation, essay writing and poetry.
The organisers also expressed hope that such activities would encourage employees to confidently use Hindi in their routine official work.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Senior Deputy Accountant General Rupak Saha.
