The Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Pynursla, has advised commuters to avoid travelling through the Shillong-Dawki road near Pomlum after the affected stretch was closed for all vehicular movement indefinitely. According to the public notice, the closure has been necessitated by the continuous occurrence of landslips in the area. Despite round-the-clock clearance efforts by the concerned company, fresh landslips continue to occur, thereby posing serious risks to commuters and workers alike. The SDO further urged the public to use alternative routes wherever possible until new updates are issued.
Condolence
The members of the Gorkha Secondary School Alumni Association (GSSAA), in a meeting held on Saturday, deeply condoled the demise of (L) Bhagwati Poon, a member of the Association. During the meeting, the members of the Association observed two-minute silence in memory and honour of the deceased, and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
