SHILLONG, Sep 27: Tura MP Saleng Sangma has alleged that the NPP is adopting a style of governance akin to Nazism in the way Cabinet berths are being allocated.
His remarks came after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma recently carried out a Cabinet reshuffle, which saw several senior ministers being dropped.
Reacting to the reshuffle, Saleng said the move to include “two or three members from the same family” in the Cabinet reflects a dictatorial approach.
Describing the reshuffle as “funny,” he questioned the decision to remove senior legislators like Ampareen Lyngdoh and Comingone Ymbon—both four- to five-time MLAs—and replace them with juniors.
“I was expecting Ronnie V Lyngdoh and Marthon Sangma to be inducted into the Cabinet,” he added.
The Tura MP further questioned the state government’s motive behind dropping senior ministers, asking whether the decision was made in the interest of the state or for personal reasons.
