SHILLONG, Sep 28: Non-Hindu citizens of Shillong plan to use the Puja festival and upcoming holidays to spend quality time with their families, take a break from city life, or enjoy leisure activities such as fishing. Many also expressed their hopes for a peaceful celebration, wishing that the festive season brings happiness and prosperity.
Tourism operator Alan West Kharkongor shared that he intends to go fishing in Uttarakhand.
“This festival season gives me an opportunity to relax, spend quality time with myself, and take a break from my daily routine,” he said.
Meanwhile, political leader Joplyn Scott Shylla said the holidays give her a chance to be with her children. “We are usually too busy, and it is hard to spend time with our children since they go to school. I also visit my Hindu friends during Puja if they invite me,” she added.
Government employee Khrawkupar Warjri mentioned that he plans to take his family out of Shillong for a short holiday. “It is a nice time to plan a family trip, as my children will be on school holidays,” he noted.
On the other hand, NEHU Assistant Professor D Pyngrope said he has no special plans for the Puja holidays. “I am going to spend my time at home,” he added.
